Water in a speaker cavity is held by surface tension, forming a continuous film across the mesh and diaphragm. That film has a breaking threshold — apply enough displacement and it fragments into separate droplets all at once. Once discontinuous, gravity and the pumping action carry the pieces out. This threshold behaviour is why water often clears in a single cycle where dust needs five.
