Diagnosing what is actually wrong

Speaker not working or making weird noises? Use our test sound to diagnose the issue and the clean mode to fix it.

Frequency 165 Hz Time left 0.0 s

💡 Point the speaker downward so gravity helps the water escape. Repeat 2–3 times if needed.

How it works

The science behind the sound

Water trapped in a speaker grille muffles the sound and can cause distortion. A strong, low‑frequency tone makes the speaker's diaphragm move a large distance back and forth — that mechanical vibration flicks droplets out of the mesh.

💧

Eject Water

A steady 165 Hz tone — the sweet spot for maximum diaphragm travel — physically pushes trapped water out.

🧹

Deep Clean

Sweeps across low frequencies (120–400 Hz) to shake loose lint, dust and stubborn droplets the single tone misses.

Test Sound

A clean 440 Hz reference tone so you can hear whether your speaker sounds clear again after cleaning.

Perfectly safe. These are ordinary frequencies your speaker already plays during music. The tool never exceeds normal listening levels — it just concentrates the energy at the frequency that moves water best.

Step by step

How to clear your speaker

1

Turn your volume up

Set your device to around 70–80% volume. The tool works by vibration, so it needs some power behind it.

2

Point the speaker down

Hold your phone with the speaker facing the floor or a soft cloth so water drains out instead of pooling deeper.

3

Tap “Eject Water”

Press start and let the full cycle play. You may see or feel tiny droplets leave the grille.

4

Repeat and test

Run it 2–3 times, then switch to “Test Sound” to confirm the audio is crisp again.

Different faults sound different, and matching the symptom to the cause before you start saves time and avoids making a repairable problem worse. Here is the mapping.

Symptom to cause

How it started is as informative as how it sounds

Sound that faded gradually over weeks points to debris accumulation, because dust builds slowly. Sound that changed the instant the device got wet points to liquid. Sound that vanished the moment the device hit the floor points to a mechanical fault, and no acoustic cleaning will address it. Being honest about which of the three happened narrows the diagnosis immediately.

Rule out software in sixty seconds

Before assuming hardware: restart the device, which clears a stuck audio route; check that no Bluetooth device is paired and in range; confirm Do Not Disturb is off; verify no volume limiter or parental control is capping output; and disable any equaliser or audio enhancement. These cost nothing to check and account for a meaningful share of complaints.

Test properly

Use speech rather than music — consonants expose remaining muffling that a bass-heavy track hides. Test each output in isolation: a call in handset mode for the earpiece, then a voice recording on speaker for the main driver. And test at moderate volume, since faults that only appear at maximum volume are telling you something different from faults present throughout.

FAQ

Common questions

Will this really get water out of my phone?

Yes — for water trapped in the external speaker grille, the low‑frequency vibration is very effective. It cannot remove water from deep inside the device; if your phone was fully submerged, also power it off and let it air‑dry in a bag of rice or silica gel.

Is it safe for my speaker?

Completely. It plays standard audio frequencies at normal volume. It does not overdrive or damage the speaker. Just avoid setting the volume to 100% for long periods on cheap speakers, as with any loud audio.

Does it work on laptops, tablets and Bluetooth speakers?

Yes. It works on any device playing audio through this browser — phones, tablets, laptops and connected Bluetooth or wireless speakers.

Why do I need to tap the button first?

Browsers only allow sound to start after you interact with the page. That single tap unlocks audio — after that the tool runs automatically.

Do I need Wi‑Fi or to install anything?

No install and no account. Once the page has loaded it runs entirely on your device using your browser's built‑in audio engine.

How much time does it take to fix my speaker?

The standard eject cycle takes about 15 to 60 seconds. We recommend running it 2-3 times for the best results.

Does "Fix My Speaker" actually work?

Yes! It uses proven acoustic physics (specifically 165Hz tones) to physically push water and dust out of the speaker mesh.

Can a blown speaker be repaired?

This tool fixes muffled sound from water or dust. If your speaker is physically blown or crackling permanently, it will require hardware replacement at a repair shop.
