Perfectly safe. These are ordinary frequencies your speaker already plays during music. The tool never exceeds normal listening levels — it just concentrates the energy at the frequency that moves water best.

Different parts of this take very different amounts of time, and confusing them is why people either give up too early or wait unnecessarily.

One cycle: 30 to 60 seconds

Most of the actual work happens in the first 20 seconds. That is when the water film breaks apart. The remaining time carries the freed droplets out through the opening.

Water: 2 to 3 cycles, about 5 minutes total

Including the wiping between cycles and setting up properly, budget around five minutes. Water responds quickly because it releases all at once once the tone breaks its surface tension. If two cycles have made a clear difference, a third is worth doing. If the first two changed nothing, more will not help.

Dust: 4 to 5 cycles, about 15 minutes total

Dust is slower because it comes out gradually rather than all at once — each pass frees a little more. Add five minutes for brushing the speaker grille first, which makes a real difference to what the cycles can achieve.

Drying the phone: 24 to 48 hours

This is completely separate from the speaker, and much longer. Even when the speaker sounds perfect, moisture remains around the charging port and inside the body. Leave the phone standing upright in a room with moving air. A fan on low speed helps. No heat, no hair dryer, no rice.

Before charging: 24 to 48 hours

The most important number on this page. A clear speaker tells you the speaker cavity is clear. It tells you nothing about the charging port. Electricity across damp charging contacts causes corrosion within minutes, and it is the most common reason a phone that could have been saved is not.

Wireless charging is safe during this period if your phone supports it, because it does not use the port.

What does not help: running it longer

Playing the tone continuously for ten minutes achieves nothing extra. Once the accessible water is out, extra time only heats the speaker coil, which actually reduces its output as it gets warmer.

FAQ

Common questions

It is still muffled after several tries. Now what?

Stop. If three cycles produce no improvement at all, the cause is not blockage. Check the symptoms on our guide to when a sound tool will not help, and have the device inspected rather than continuing to run cycles.

Can this damage my speaker?

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.

How long should I run it?

Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.

How often should I use it?

For maintenance, roughly once a month is plenty. More often if you exercise heavily, work outdoors, or live somewhere humid or dusty. There is no benefit to daily use on a speaker that sounds fine.

Should I set volume to maximum?

No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.

What this cannot fix

Our tool is great for water and dust, but it cannot fix physically blown speakers or electrical damage.
