A true stereo pair uses two matched drivers. Almost no phone does this. The usual arrangement is a main bottom-firing loudspeaker plus the earpiece pressed into service as the second channel — and the earpiece is smaller, quieter and produces far less bass. Some manufacturers compensate in software; many do not.
Mild imbalance is often normal and not a fault. If the bottom speaker has always sounded fuller than the top, that is the hardware, not a blockage. The question is whether the balance has changed.
Play a mono recording — a voice memo works well — and cover each grille in turn with a fingertip. Cover the bottom: you hear only the earpiece channel. Cover the earpiece: you hear only the bottom. Judging them in isolation is far more reliable than trying to separate them by ear while both play.
Many phones have a grille that produces no sound at all — it exists for visual symmetry with the real one. Before concluding a channel is dead, confirm it was ever a speaker. Covering it with a finger while audio plays answers this immediately: if nothing changes, it was never an output.

Blockage produces quiet, never total silence. If there is no sound whatsoever, check that media volume is up, that no Bluetooth device is connected, and that Do Not Disturb is off. If all three are clear, the fault is hardware.
No — and this matters. The sound has to travel through the blocked speaker to do anything, so any connected Bluetooth or wired device defeats the purpose entirely. Disconnect everything first.
No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.
