Many Android makers bundle audio enhancement — Dolby Atmos on Samsung, Motorola and Lenovo devices, and various proprietary equivalents elsewhere. These apply substantial bass and spatial processing by default. If that processing gets disabled by an update, a reset, or a change in the audio route, bass can seem to disappear overnight with nothing physically wrong.
Check Settings → Sound → Sound quality and effects (Samsung), or the equivalent on your device.
Some processing only applies to certain output paths — active over headphones but not the loudspeaker, or disabled when a particular app has exclusive audio access. That produces the confusing pattern where bass is present in one app and absent in another with no hardware change.
An installed equaliser can override system processing and hold the audio route even when you are not using it. Safe mode is the fast way to check: hold power, long-press "Power off", select safe mode. If bass returns with third-party apps disabled, one of them is responsible.
Bass is the first thing lost to a blocked speaker, because low frequencies require the largest diaphragm travel. If bass has gone and overall volume has dropped and treble sounds dull, that combination points at a physical restriction rather than processing.
If bass alone has changed while volume and clarity are unaffected, it is almost certainly software.
Even fully cleared, a phone speaker produces limited low frequency output — there is not enough diaphragm area or enclosure volume. Processing creates a perception of bass rather than actual low frequency energy, which is why disabling it feels like such a large loss.

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.
No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.
No — and this matters. The sound has to travel through the blocked speaker to do anything, so any connected Bluetooth or wired device defeats the purpose entirely. Disconnect everything first.
Eject the liquid the same way, but treat the device as needing professional attention afterwards. Salt and sugar leave conductive, corrosive residue when they dry, and that residue keeps damaging the board long after the speaker sounds normal.
