Perfectly safe. These are ordinary frequencies your speaker already plays during music. The tool never exceeds normal listening levels — it just concentrates the energy at the frequency that moves water best.

Most speaker testing is done by playing a familiar song and forming an impression. That is unreliable in both directions. A controlled method gives you information you can act on.

Use a fixed reference

Record a fifteen-second voice memo before you start — your own voice reading anything. Play it back at a fixed volume after each stage. Because the file never changes, any difference you hear is real. This single habit makes the whole process measurable rather than impressionistic.

Use speech, not music

Three reasons. Bass-heavy tracks mask exactly the mid and high frequency dullness that indicates blockage. Familiar tracks bias what you expect to hear. And streaming introduces variables — bitrate, network, platform processing — unrelated to your speaker. Consonants are the giveaway: soft or smeared s, t and f sounds mean something is still in the mesh.

Test each driver in isolation

Play a mono file and cover each grille in turn with a fingertip. Judging drivers separately is far more reliable than comparing them by ear while both play, because your brain merges them into one impression.

Test at two volumes

30 percent and 90 percent. Faults appearing only at high volume indicate a driver reaching a mechanical limit. Faults present at both, proportionally, indicate blockage. This one comparison separates the two most common categories.

Use a high tone as a measuring instrument

A 10 kHz tone is useless for cleaning but excellent for measurement, because high frequencies are attenuated most by mesh obstruction. Play it before and after. The difference is far more obvious than with music.

Use the manufacturer diagnostic where one exists

Record what you find

Which driver, quiet or silent, behaviour at low versus high volume, whether there was liquid or a drop. Those four facts turn a vague complaint into something a technician can act on immediately.

FAQ

Common questions

Should I set volume to maximum?

No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.

Does the rice trick work?

No. Rice is a poor desiccant — open moving air dries a device faster — and its starch dust migrates into the charging port, microphone holes and speaker grille, which can create a second problem on top of the first.

It is still muffled after several tries. Now what?

Stop. If three cycles produce no improvement at all, the cause is not blockage. Check the symptoms on our guide to when a sound tool will not help, and have the device inspected rather than continuing to run cycles.

Can this damage my speaker?

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.

How long should I run it?

Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.

What this cannot fix

Our tool is great for water and dust, but it cannot fix physically blown speakers or electrical damage.
