Perfectly safe. These are ordinary frequencies your speaker already plays during music. The tool never exceeds normal listening levels — it just concentrates the energy at the frequency that moves water best.
Starting is straightforward. Confirming it is actually working is the part worth knowing, because a silent failure looks identical to a tool that does not work.
Browsers block audio that begins without user interaction — an anti-autoplay measure. A cycle will not start
on page load. Tap the start control directly. This catches people out on iPhone especially, where a page that
seems inert is often just waiting.
What a working cycle sounds like
A clean, steady low hum — not a rattle, not a buzz. If liquid is present it often sounds slightly damped at
first, then becomes noticeably cleaner and louder partway through without you touching the volume. That change is
the surface tension film breaking, and it is the best available confirmation the mechanism engaged.
If you hear nothing at all
Bluetooth. Off entirely in settings, not just disconnected. This is the answer most of the
time.
Media volume. Start the tone, then press volume up — pressing beforehand adjusts the
ringer.
Wired headset. Unplug it, and check for a stuck headphone routing flag.
Frequency range. Below about 100 Hz most phone drivers produce nothing audible.
If it sounds harsh or buzzy
Reduce the volume. Above roughly 80 percent the waveform clips and the diaphragm holds at full extension
rather than travelling smoothly. If it still buzzes at moderate volume, that is the speaker reporting a
mechanical problem — a reason to stop rather than turn it up.
Confirming the result
Record a voice memo before you start and play it back after each cycle at fixed volume. Comparing against an
unchanging reference is far more reliable than memory.

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.
How long should I run it?
Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.
Should I set volume to maximum?
No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.
Does the rice trick work?
No. Rice is a poor desiccant — open moving air dries a device faster — and its starch dust migrates into the charging port, microphone holes and speaker grille, which can create a second problem on top of the first.
It is still muffled after several tries. Now what?
Stop. If three cycles produce no improvement at all, the cause is not blockage. Check the symptoms on our guide to when a sound tool will not help, and have the device inspected rather than continuing to run cycles.
What this cannot fix
Our tool is great for water and dust, but it cannot fix physically blown speakers or electrical damage.
