Perfectly safe. These are ordinary frequencies your speaker already plays during music. The tool never exceeds normal listening levels — it just concentrates the energy at the frequency range where diaphragm travel is greatest.

Right now — first 60 seconds

  1. Power it off. Do not check whether it still works first. A powered board with moisture bridging contacts is where short circuits happen.
  2. Hold it grille-down and let it drain. Do not shake it hard — that drives water further in through seams.
  3. Do not press buttons repeatedly. Button wells are entry points, and pressing pumps liquid inward.

Next two minutes

Case off. SIM tray out — this gives moisture an escape route and lets you check the liquid contact indicator inside the slot, a white strip that turns pink or red if water reached the internals. Blot the whole device with a lint-free cloth, pressing rather than rubbing.

Minutes three to ten

Run ejection cycles. Bluetooth fully off, volume 70–80 percent, grille facing straight down at about 45 degrees, 30–60 seconds per cycle with a wipe between each. Doing this early matters: liquid that leaves the cavity now never gets the chance to sit and evaporate into a mineral deposit.

Seawater: rinse briefly with clean fresh water first, then dry — diluting salt prevents chloride deposits that corrode continuously. Sugary drinks: have it inspected regardless of how it sounds.

FAQ

Common questions

It is still muffled after several tries. Now what?

Stop. If three cycles produce no improvement at all, the cause is not blockage. Check the symptoms on our guide to when a sound tool will not help, and have the device inspected rather than continuing to run cycles.

Can this damage my speaker?

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.

How long should I run it?

Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.

Should I set volume to maximum?

No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.

Does the rice trick work?

No. Rice is a poor desiccant — open moving air dries a device faster — and its starch dust migrates into the charging port, microphone holes and speaker grille, which can create a second problem on top of the first.

What this cannot fix

Our tool is great for water and dust, but it cannot fix physically blown speakers or electrical damage.
