Why most are equivalent

Almost every browser-based speaker cleaner uses the same mechanism: an oscillator generating a low-frequency tone through the Web Audio API. The waveform reaching your speaker is essentially identical. Interface polish tells you very little about effectiveness, because the limiting factor is your driver rather than the software.

The four things that actually differ

  1. Frequency range. 120–400 Hz is the working band. Anything advertising above 20 kHz is outside human hearing and moves nothing.
  2. Sweep availability. Resonance varies by device, so a sweep is more reliable than any fixed tone — and clearly better for dust.
  3. Volume control. Tools defaulting to maximum are worse, because clipping reduces clean diaphragm travel.
  4. Honesty about limits. Does it tell you what it cannot fix? Oil, wax, torn diaphragms and broken wires do not respond to any tone.

What ranking claims tell you

Nothing verifiable. No independent testing body evaluates speaker cleaning tools, and there is no metric being measured. A "number one" claim is a statement about marketing rather than performance.

What actually decides your result

Technique. Case off, Bluetooth fully off, 70–80 percent volume, grille facing straight down at about 45 degrees, wiping between cycles, brushing the exterior first. These change outcomes more than tool choice does, and they are free.

The test that settles it

Record a voice memo before you start, play it back after each cycle at fixed volume. Whichever tool you used, that comparison tells you whether anything actually improved.

Common questions

Does the rice trick work?

No. Rice is a poor desiccant — open moving air dries a device faster — and its starch dust migrates into the charging port, microphone holes and speaker grille, which can create a second problem on top of the first.

It is still muffled after several tries. Now what?

Stop. If three cycles produce no improvement at all, the cause is not blockage. Check the symptoms on our guide to when a sound tool will not help, and have the device inspected rather than continuing to run cycles.

Can this damage my speaker?

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.

How long should I run it?

Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.

Should I set volume to maximum?

No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.

What this cannot fix

Our tool is great for water and dust, but it cannot fix physically blown speakers or electrical damage.
