The whole mechanism is an oscillator

The Web Audio API provides an OscillatorNode that generates a waveform at a specified frequency, and a GainNode that controls amplitude. Connect oscillator to gain, gain to destination, set frequency and start. That is the core of every browser-based speaker cleaner in existence.

What separates a good implementation from a poor one

The user-gesture requirement

Browsers will not start audio without a deliberate user interaction — an anti-autoplay measure. Any implementation must create or resume the AudioContext inside a click or tap handler. This is the single most common reason a tool appears to do nothing on iOS.

What no implementation can change

The physical limit is the driver. Software cannot make a diaphragm travel further than its suspension allows, cannot reproduce frequencies the driver does not support, and cannot break the adhesive bonds holding oil or wax. Any project claiming otherwise is describing something that does not happen.

Evaluating an open-source alternative

Check the frequency range it uses, whether it ramps gain, whether it offers a sweep, and whether it documents its limits honestly. Those four things tell you whether the author understood the physics.

Common questions

Will this void my warranty?

Playing an audio file does not modify your device or open it, so the tool itself has no warranty implication. Note separately that liquid damage is usually excluded from standard warranty cover regardless.

Can this damage my speaker?

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.

Can I use headphones or earbuds while it plays?

No — and this matters. The sound has to travel through the blocked speaker to do anything, so any connected Bluetooth or wired device defeats the purpose entirely. Disconnect everything first.

How often should I use it?

For maintenance, roughly once a month is plenty. More often if you exercise heavily, work outdoors, or live somewhere humid or dusty. There is no benefit to daily use on a speaker that sounds fine.

How long should I run it?

Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.

What this cannot fix

Our tool is great for water and dust, but it cannot fix physically blown speakers or electrical damage.
