Laptops have far more possible output destinations than phones — built-in speakers, HDMI or DisplayPort monitors, USB audio devices, docking stations, Bluetooth headsets, and virtual devices installed by conferencing software. Browsers also allow per-site output selection in some cases.
Before concluding a tool does not work: check the system output device, and check whether your browser or a conferencing app has grabbed exclusive control of the audio device. A monitor connected by HDMI claims the audio output silently and very frequently.
