Perfectly safe. These are ordinary frequencies your speaker already plays during music. The tool never exceeds normal listening levels — it just concentrates the energy at the frequency range where diaphragm travel is greatest.

Step 1 — Remove the cover

Phone covers very often sit over part of the speaker slot. Water pushed out then gets trapped against the opening and goes back in. Take it off before starting.

Step 2 — Dry the outside first

Use a soft dry cloth and press gently rather than rubbing. Rubbing pushes water into the small gaps around the screen and ports. If water is still on the outside, the sound cycle will pull some of it inward.

Step 3 — Switch Bluetooth off completely

This is the mistake that wastes the most time. If earphones or a car system are connected, the phone sends the sound there instead of to the wet speaker, and nothing happens. Turn Bluetooth off in settings, not just disconnect.

Step 4 — Set the correct volume

About 70 to 80 percent. Not full volume. At maximum the sound becomes distorted and the speaker membrane stops moving smoothly, which actually reduces the pushing action.

Start the sound playing first, then press the volume button — otherwise you may be changing ringtone volume instead of media volume.

Step 5 — Hold it correctly

Speaker facing straight down, phone tilted about 45 degrees. This is not a small detail. Held flat, the water comes out and settles right back. Facing down, gravity carries it away.

Step 6 — Run, wipe, repeat

30 to 60 seconds each time. Stop, wipe the speaker area dry, then run again. Two or three times is enough for water.

Step 7 — Wait before charging

24 to 48 hours. Do not plug in the charger even if the speaker sounds perfect. A clear speaker only tells you the speaker is clear, not that the inside of the phone is dry.

What to avoid

No rice — open moving air dries faster and rice powder enters the ports. No hair dryer — heat damages the thin membrane. Nothing sharp in the speaker grille — the mesh inside tears easily.

FAQ

Common questions

Can this damage my speaker?

No. The frequencies used sit inside the range your speaker already reproduces whenever you play music, and the tool runs at moderate volume rather than maximum. The one genuine caution is earbuds: never run ejection tones into in-ear devices while you are wearing them.

How long should I run it?

Thirty to sixty seconds per cycle, repeated two or three times with short pauses. Running it continuously for many minutes adds nothing once the accessible liquid is out, and only heats the voice coil.

Should I set volume to maximum?

No. Around 70 to 80 percent is the practical sweet spot. Maximum volume on a restricted diaphragm produces distortion rather than more displacement, and adds avoidable stress to the driver.

Does the rice trick work?

No. Rice is a poor desiccant — open moving air dries a device faster — and its starch dust migrates into the charging port, microphone holes and speaker grille, which can create a second problem on top of the first.

It is still muffled after several tries. Now what?

Stop. If three cycles produce no improvement at all, the cause is not blockage. Check the symptoms on our guide to when a sound tool will not help, and have the device inspected rather than continuing to run cycles.

What this cannot fix
